PDFDocify Privacy Policy

What data the PDFDocify app processes – and what it doesn’t.

This translation is provided for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.

01

The key points

PDFDocify is a document scanner that works entirely on your device. You don’t need an account to use it.

  • Your scans, PDFs, recognised text, signatures and folders are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
  • The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking services.
  • The app uses an internet connection only for purchases and to check your Premium status (section 5). No document content is transmitted.

03

Processing on your device

The following features access data only when you use them, and only on your device:

  • Camera: to scan documents. The captures are saved as pages in the app. On iOS the system asks for your permission first; on Android the scanner of Google Play services provides the camera (section 4).
  • Photos and files: the app only receives the images and PDFs you select in the system picker. It has no access to the rest of your library.
  • Text recognition (OCR): runs offline using the operating system’s features (Apple Vision or Google ML Kit). The recognised text stays on the device.
  • Signatures and passwords: signatures you draw are saved as images in the app. The app does not permanently store the passwords you use to protect PDFs.

When you share a document, you decide which app or person receives it; the recipient is then responsible for any further processing. Backups of your device (e.g. iCloud or Google backup) may include the app’s data, depending on your system settings; these backups are managed by Apple or Google.

04

Google’s document scanner (Android only)

On Android, PDFDocify uses the Google ML Kit document scanner, which is provided through Google Play services. Play services download the scanner on first use and keep it up to date. The images are processed on the device. According to Google, Play services may send technical usage and diagnostic data (e.g. device and app information, performance metrics) to Google, but no image content.

Premium purchases and RevenueCat

You buy Premium subscriptions and the one-time purchase through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled solely by the store; we never receive your payment details.

To verify purchases, unlock Premium and restore purchases, we use the RevenueCat service. For this, the app creates a random, anonymous user ID. When an internet connection is available, the app sends RevenueCat:

  • the anonymous user ID,
  • the store’s receipts and transaction data (e.g. product, price, currency, country, purchase and expiry date),
  • technical details such as operating system and app version, device language and – for technical reasons – your IP address.

No name, e-mail address or document content is transmitted. Your Premium status is also cached on the device so that Premium works offline.

Provider: RevenueCat, Inc., 1032 E Brandon Blvd #3003, Brandon, FL 33511, USA. RevenueCat processes the data as a processor on our behalf. The transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract for your purchase)
Retention: for as long as your purchase is valid and statutory retention obligations apply; on request we delete the data stored under your ID unless we are obliged to retain it.

06

App Store and Google Play

When you download the app and make purchases, Apple or Google process data under their own responsibility (e.g. your store ID and payment details). If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics data, Apple or Google provide us with aggregated statistics and anonymous crash reports; these do not allow any conclusions about you or your documents. The privacy policies of Apple and Google apply.

07

Contact and support

If you e-mail us, we process your address and message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once the request has been dealt with and no retention obligations apply.

08

Deleting your data

You delete documents and all other app data in the app itself or by uninstalling the app. Subscriptions you bought are not affected; you can cancel them in the settings of your Apple or Google account.

09

Your rights

You have the right at any time to:

  • access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)

Please send your request to: info[at]slicklab.de. As we can only identify you by the anonymous user ID, please include the ID shown in the app under “Settings” or your store order number when asking about purchases.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Bavaria, this is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA).
